An Evening with Kari Kampakis

 OptimizedImage,,,OptimizedThe Dunham counseling team is excited to welcome Kari Kampakis to campus as the guest speaker for the winter Parent Engagement Program (PEP) Seminar. The event will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 6:00-9:00 pm.

Dunham mothers and daughters are encouraged to attend this event together.  Although best suited for girls in 4th grade and above, younger girls are welcome. Mothers of boys are also invited to attend. However, the student activities are intended for girls only.  

This event will include dinner. While there is no charge to attend, we do ask that you kindly pre-register so we can plan for the appropriate number of guests.

Local bookseller, Red Stick Reads, will be on campus the night of the event selling Mrs. Kampakis's books. Parents who would prefer to pre-order books may do so here and pick them up at the Red Stick Reads table on January 22.  Mrs. Kampakis will sign any books purchased or already owned. 

Event Details: 

  • Dinner service will begin at 6:00 pm at  in the Rollins Family Dining Hall. Book-signing and Meet & Greet with Mrs. Kampakis will take place during this time.

  • Seating in the Brown-Holt Chapel Arts Center will begin at 6:45 pm.

  • Session 1: Secrets of the Sisterhood will begin at 7:00 pm. Mothers and daughters will attend this session together. The discussion will focus on how to find real friends, stop comparisons, and rise above girl drama.
  • After intermission, the girls will attend a separate workshop where they will complete a group craft and dive deeper into the material covered in the first session.
  • Mothers will attend Session 2: Raising-Confident Kids for a discussion focusing on ways to integrate faith into parenting and encourage children to become who God intended them to be.
  • The event will conclude at approximately 8:45 pm.

Kari Kampakis is a bestselling author, national speaker, and podcaster from Birmingham, Alabama. As the host of the Girl Mom podcast, Mrs. Kampakis addresses prominent modern-day issues in an effort to unite mothers and help them feel less alone, more encouraged, and more equipped as they raise empowered daughters and strengthen their mother-daughter relationships.

The Dunham counseling department launched the Parent Engagement Program (PEP) in 2024 as a resource for Dunham parents. In addition to seminars, PEP provides a monthly blog and e-newsletter.
